Stroud District Council local development plan… withdraw it and produce a sound plan say the Inspectors!

Will the Chief Executive and the Council Leader be held to account for this mess? Will SDC finally listen to the Inspectors, highways, the community and others they should have collaborated closely with over all these years? Or will will they continue to blame others, waste more money and put us at increasing risk of inappropriate speculative development?
Contact your District, Town and Parish councillors and ask them to hold SDC to account.
Key conclusions from the Inspectors:
“…we believe that it would be in the best interests of Stroud District to focus efforts moving forwards on producing a more up to date Plan that would be capable of being found sound.
…..it would not be in the best interests of delivering the homes required in Stroud District to further prolong the examination.
…we still consider that withdrawal of the Stroud District Local Plan Review from Examination is the most appropriate way forward.”

“We call on Stroud District Council to show some humility, stop wasting yet more time and taxpayers money and accept the recommendation of Inspectors to withdraw the proposed plan. Urgently support and engage the community now with a new sound plan that puts the right development in the right place with the right size plus affordable and social houses for local people supported by the right services and employment opportunities. This CAN be done without wasting hundreds of millions on car based infrastructure with room for nature and preserving our wonderful landscape setting.”
